My Family


Happy “My Family”  week! This month we will be focusing on Family Time and Thanksgiving  ! We will also be focusing on the letter Gg,
recognizing numbers 10-20 and writing numbers, the color brown
in Spanish , and the Trapezoid shape! This week we will be practicing number correspondence and use. Here is a list of activities we will be enjoying this week! We will also learn more animal names in Spanish, like El Buho, the Owl.

Language Arts: We will be reading “Bear Has a Story to Tell” by Philip Stead , “This is My Family” by Mercer Mayer, along with some stories that we take turns picking.

Handwriting: This week we will focus on recognizing and writing the letter G and learning A through G in sign language!

Math:

We will be playing a game of connect the dots with numbers and play a fun game of cup stacking while trying to stack up to 20!

Crafts

We will start working with stencils this week and make a stencil of the people in our family!

Let’s make a cool  project out of spoons! We will decorate spoons on paper that look like our family members!

This week we will work on a special “I love my family” project!

This week we will discuss our families and how we are all unique and full of love! We will also continue to discuss our feelings and Thanksgiving, which is coming up quickly! We have a fun new song we will learn for the holiday!

Fall Animals



Prek 3 – 4  ( Kate Hawkins )
Happy Fall! It’s Fall Animals week and we will learn about animals that come out in the fall! We will also be focusing on the letter Cc, recognizing numbers 1-10, the color blue, and the Octagon shape! This week we will be practicing our cutting skills! Here is a list of activities we will be enjoying this week!

Language Arts: We will be reading “Wake Up Kisses” by Pamela Edwards, “the Legend of the Three Trees” by Catherine McCafferty, and “Leaf Trouble” by Jonathan Emmitt.

Handwriting: This week we will focus on recognizing and writing the letter C and learning C in sign language! We will also practice drawing our shapes.

Math:
We are very good at counting to the number 10, but let’s try counting our friends in line. How many friends are in class today?

There are 10 fall leaves drawn on our papers, we will be cutting out and sorting 10 leaves by size. 

Science

Let’s dissect an apple! What are all the parts of The inside and outside of an Apple called? We will learn the names this week! 

Crafts:

We have a fun Apple project this week and we will recreate it using construction paper. What are the parts of the Apple and what are they named? We labeled our final picture! 

There are so many fallen leaves! Let’s make some leaf rubbings! We will use leaves, paper, and crayons to color some beautiful leaf rubbings. 

It’s fall and we may see a lot of foxes! We are going to make and paint fall foxes with googley eyes and noses ! 

This week we will practice some fall animal yoga And practice our fall songs in sign language.
During circle time we will be talking about fall animals and how they adapt to the season and live in their environments. We will also continue to discuss the month, date, days, season and weather! Leaves are falling and fall is here!

Let’s Share

It’s “Let’s Share”  week and we will be focusing on the letter Aa-Bb, numbers 1-10 and writing 4, the color green, and the hexagon shape! Here is a list of activities we will be enjoying this week!

Language Arts: We will be reading “The Giving Tree” by Shel Silverstein, “The Rainbow Fish” by Marcus Pfister”, and “The Kissing Hand “ by Audrey Penn.

Handwriting: This week we will focus on recognizing and writing the letter b in lower case and we will be going over Aa-Bb.

Math:
We will work on drawing the shapes we learned this month! We will be practicing drawing the circle, triangle, rhombus, and hexagon!

This week we will be playing a number matching game, with numbers and dots on different leaves.

Crafts:

Sharing is caring! We will use a big sheet of paper and all take turns drawing our favorite object or toy that we would share with our friends!

Let’s share a heart! We will decorate and paint hearts that we can share with our families!

What do leaves look like in the fall? We painted a fall tree with changing leaves, using dot paints.

This week we will practice some fall yoga!

During circle time we will learn about the importance of sharing with our friends !  We will also continue to discuss the month, date, days, season and weather! Leaves are falling and fall is here, we have a fun new sign language song to learn for fall!

Let’s Be Friends

It’s” Let’s Be Friends ” week and we will be focusing on the letter Bb, numbers 1-8, the color purple, and the rhombus shape! Here is a list of activities we will be enjoying this week!

Language Arts: We will be reading “My World” by Margaret Wise Brown, “A Friend For All Seasons” by Jullia Hubery, and “Because a Little Bug Went KaChoo!” by Rosetta Stone

Handwriting: This week we will focus on recognizing and writing the letter B in upper and lower case. We will also write B in the sand outside!

Math: Let’s practice recognizing our colors and shapes! We will be playing a match game to help us learn our shapes.

It’s a Pair! We will have fun this week playing this memory skill game!

Crafts:

This week we will have a couple a cool friendship crafts! We will make a friendship flower and the petals will say some important things of keeping a great friendship!

Murals are so cool, we will be dipping our hands in paint to make a handprint friendship mural that we can hang in the classroom!

Let’s make and build a friendship chain! We used paper that we each made a link out of with our name on it , and linked them together, creating a cool friendship chain!

We will have fun outside this week working together to build a playground out of our legos! We will build in small, friendly teams, as we continue to play and get to know each other.

During circle time we will learn about how we can be a good friend to our classmates and children we meet !  We will also continue to discuss the month, date, days, season and weather! This week we will go on a new, fun  adventure!!!

Learning all about Me Week Lesson Plans

It’s” All About Me ” week and we will be focusing on the letter Aa, numbers 1-5, the color pink, and the triangle shape! Here is a list of activities we will be enjoying this week!

Language Arts: We will be reading “A Teacher for Bear” by Anne Marie Pace ,
“My Very Own Book of What’s For Lunch”, by Guy Smalley, and “Pete the Cat, I love my white shoes” by Eric Litwin.

Handwriting: This week we will focus on recognizing and writing the letter Aa in lower case. We will also be sculpting letter A with play dough!

Math and colors: We are going to play a fun number match game this week, as well as, practice counting and recognizing numbers 1-5! Can we write them too?

Crafts:
We are going to focus on the family tree this week and make many crafts around ours! We will start out with our tree with the leaves and written names of our families!

What does our house look like? We love coloring and are going to draw our best picture of our home.

Who lives in my Home? Let’s draw a family portrait!! We drew a picture of ourselves, with our parents, and brothers and sisters!

During circle time we will learn all ” about me” this week ! We will also continue to discuss the month, date, days, season and weather! This week we will also go on a fun nature adventure!!!

Welcome Back to School

Prek 3 & 4 Class:

Welcome back Pre K! It’s week 1 and we will be focusing on the letter Aa, numbers 1-3, the color red, and the circle shape! Here is a list of activities we will be enjoying this week!

Language Arts:
We will be reading “Here We Go Round the Year” by Jane Moncure , and
“Clifford’s Good Deeds”, by Norman Bridwell.

Handwriting:
This week we will focus on recognizing and writing the letter A in upper case.

Math and colors:
Let’s practice sorting and counting Bears! Can we sort and count up to three red bears?

Crafts:
We love painting in many colors! We will use our hands and dip our fingers into different colored paints to make a “first day of Pre K” handprint, with our names on them!

I am ready to start school! This week we will be making And decorating our own back to school crowns!

It’s going to Bee a Great Year! Let’s use our crayons to color in a Bee!

During circle time we will learn about each other this week, along with some new songs! We will also discuss classroom rules and the importance of washing our hands. Spread love, not germs! This will be a fun first week!

We’ make tigers and turtles and learn fun facts about each!
On Tuesday and Wednesday we’ll have tea parties at snack time ( teddy grahams, tea biscuits and juice ). Your child can bring in his/ her favorite teddy bear to join us!
We’ll sort and count tiny teddy bears (1-10) and play teddy bear match up ( color, shape and number recognition 1-10.
Miss Michele and Miss Jess are working with the children on spring projects — getting our classroom ready to welcome Spring!

We’ll have a special green eggs and ham breakfast ( Monday ) , make cats in hats
and sort, count and graph with red fish and blue fish.

This week’s letter is S. We’ll practice the S sound, identify S words and practice writing Ss, sixes and sevens.
We’ll sort and count colorful spiders and silly socks!
We’ll make letter S snowmen and spiders!
We’ll practice cutting with safety scissors.
At circle time we’ll talk about syllables and clap out the parts ( syllables ) of our names and the names of all things in our classroom!
Weather permitting we’ll play outside!

At circle time, we’ll play “Is it Real?” — distinguishing real from make believe using fairy tale characters— and practice our rhyming skills with a “ rhyming basket “and easy number rhymes.
Show and Tell is Thursday 2/27 and Friday 2/28. Please ask your child to share something beginning with either letters  P, Q or R.
