Community Helpers Week!!
We’ll learn about firemen, police officers, doctors, nurses, mail carriers and more! We’ll play community helpers bingo and make police cars and handprint firemen!!
We’ll make and deliver mail to each other ( letter and name recognition), set up our own bakery ( number identification and less and more ) and community helper vehicle count ( #s 1-10 )!

The children are doing a great job practicing for the show!!

This week we are going to be discussing recycling. We will learn what the recycle symbol looks likes and what it means. If you have any recyclable items please send them into school this week. For example: newspaper, toilet paper/paper towel rolls, glass jars, egg cartons, cardboard and aluminum cans. We will talk about how they are recycled and how recycling helps the earth. We will also be using them for art projects this week.

We are practicing for our show in June. The children are doing a great job! We’re learning numbers 1-10 and colors red, blue, green, orange, purple, yellow, black and white in Spanish.
We planted carrot seeds and are eagerly watching the pot ( placed in a sunny window ) to see signs of growth!
We’ll make ladybugs and dragonflys and learn all about insects!
We’ll review positional words with a springtime picture placement activity.
We’ll learn and illustrate this poem

Monday April 22 is Earth Day and this week we’ll do activities and projects to learn about our earth and how to keep it healthy!
We’ll have an indoor picnic ( apples and goldfish) on a “pond” and learn about recycling and reusing and keeping our environment healthy for us and all living things!
With seed packets, we’ll learn about different vegetables and flowers, play a matching game and start an indoor garden!
We’ll do Earth Day worksheets and read these books: The Earth Book ( Todd Parr ), Curious George Plants a Tree and The Berenstain Bears Go Green (Jan and Mike Berenstain).

We had a wonderful week learning all about the different food groups!!! We learned all about healthy foods and foods that are a “sometime” food to eat 🙂 The children have been doing great remembering their addresses and phone numbers. I have told the children that as a reward at the end of everyone knowing their information that I will give each one of them a small prize for all of their hard work 🙂 I am so proud of each and every one of them!!! 🙂

This week we’ll celebrate Spring’s arrival by playing Cloud, Rainbow and Puddle (visual discrimination) and Rainstorm! ( letter and number recognition ).

We’ll read The Wind Blew ( Pat Hutchins ) and do a comprehension and sequencing activity.
This week’s letter is V. We’ll sort through our V box and play What’s Missing? We’ll make colorful flower vases and volcanoes!
With baking soda, white vinegar and food coloring we’ll make a volcano erupt!
We’ll have Show and Tell on Friday 3/23. Your child’s choice!

On Monday March 11 Miss Sharon will teach a science lesson to the children and on Wednesday March 13 the nutritionist from Weiss supermarket will do a lesson on nutrition and make fruit and vegetable smoothies for the children to sample and enjoy!

We’ll talk about healthy foods and create ( with magazine pictures and play foods ) healthy meals and snacks! Together we’ll make a healthy and colorful fruit and vegetable snack to share!

We’ll celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with shamrock match ( numbers 1-10 and letters A- U).
We’ll play What’s under the Shamrock?  ( memory challenge ) and  make festive St. Patrick Day wreaths!
