We are looking forward to our trip to Weis supermarket! We’ll read Pete the Cat’s Trip to the Supermarket (James Dean) and at circle time we’ll shop together for healthy foods.

We’ll do number ( 1,2 and 3 ) and letter ( A, B, C and D ) searches for review.
We’ll make Elmos and eggs and learn E sounds and words.
For science, we’ll discover what makes an egg float in water!
We’ll make scarecrows with colorful shapes and learn this song/ activity:

This week’s letter is D. We’ll make handprint ducks and play donut match ( number and color review) and dominos.
We’ll read From Seed to Pumpkin ( Wendy Pheffer ) and Sixteen Runaway Pumpkins ( Dianne Ochiltree ) and make thumbprint pumpkins on a vine and play
“What’s Missing?”
with tiny pumpkins and gourds.
Thank you for helping your child with his/ her morning tasks ( jacket and backpack on hook, lunch box in cubby and folders in the basket in our room).

The children are getting to know each other ( we play getting to know our friends games  at circle time) and enjoying our activities!
We love this beautiful fall weather; outside play is fun and healthy!

We had so much fun on our field trip to the farm!!! We learned so much about apples,bees, the good and bad animals on the farm and about the insects also that help the farm. Show And Tell Tuesday for the Letter “D”. We are going to do some matching games to match our uppercase and lowercase letters together. We are also going to do some patterns with some paper apple cut outs 🙂

To review numbers 1-6 we’ll make a colorful carrot patch ( matching carrot tops and bottoms ).
We’ll read The Very Hungry Caterpillar ( Eric Carle ) and make “name caterpillars,” Goodnight Construction Site ( Sherri Duskey Rinker ), Clifford The Big Red Dog, Curious George Goes to the Library, Corduroy ( Don Freeman ) and The Cat in the Hat ( Dr. Seuss ).

All About Me

We had a GREAT few days at school getting to know each other 🙂 We are looking forward to a GREAT year 🙂 This week we will be starting the letters of the alphabet. On Wednesday we will be doing show and tell for the letter “A”. Please have your child bring in something that starts with the letter “A.” Please encourage them to try and find something themselves to help them identify the letter sound 🙂 If your child does not attend school on Wednesday, they can bring it in on Tuesday to share with the class so that they have a turn also 🙂

With “all about me week” I encourage the children to bring in pictures of their families to hang up in the classroom for the week 🙂 This is a great way to learn a little bit more about each other 🙂 You will get the pictures returned to you 🙂 If you have any questions please feel free to reach out to me 🙂 Miss Jenny
