This week’s letter is S. Miss Jess is creating outer space projects with the children. The projects will be on display at our open house on Saturday, February 23rd.

We’ll make suns and snakes, play “I Spy” in our classroom and outside ( weather permitting) and snack on strawberries.

We’ll play Simon Says Stretch and paint with string!

We are working in our workbooks and alphabet review books ( practicing proper grip and control).

We’ll read There’s No Place Like Space (Tish Rabe) and Little Miss Somersault ( Roger Hargreaves).

On Wednesday Dr. Fusco will visit to talk to us about healthy teeth. Also on Wednesday, we’ll celebrate Valentine’s Day with special snacks and crafts!

We’ll learn this Valentine song ( same tune as I’m a Little Teapot )
I’m a little valentine
Red and white
With ribbons and lace
I’m a beautiful sight
I can say “I love you”
On Valentine’s Day
Just put me in an envelope
And give me away!

With Valentine candy hearts we’ll practice sorting and counting.
With “broken hearts” we’ll match numbers (1-10), letters (A-R) and our names!

We’ll make edible snowmen for a special snack: apples, pretzel sticks and mini chocolate chips!

Together we’ll learn this poem:

Chubby Snowman
There was a chubby snowman
And he had a carrot nose.
Along came a bunny
And what do you suppose
That hungry little bunny
Was looking for his lunch!
He grabbed that snowman’s carrot nose

Nibble nibble crunch!!

We’ll do letter Q and numbers 4 and 5 searches!
