We’ll finish the alphabet this week; we’ll make xylophones, yaks, x-rays of our hands and zebras!
We’ll practice with zippers, make yarn numbers 1-6 and make edible zoos ( stick pretzels and animal crackers!
We’ll read A Gardener’s Alphabet (Mary Azarian ) and Alphabet Under Construction (Denise Fleming).

March Comes In Like A Lion And Out Like A Lamb

We had a wonderful week learning all about the different food groups!!! We learned all about healthy foods and foods that are a “sometime” food to eat 🙂 The children have been doing great remembering their addresses and phone numbers. I have told the children that as a reward at the end of everyone knowing their information that I will give each one of them a small prize for all of their hard work 🙂 I am so proud of each and every one of them!!! 🙂

We’ll do a letter W search worksheet and practice tracing/ writing Ws.
With colorful plastic eggs we’ll do counting, sorting and patterning activities.
Weather permitting we’ll take a walk outside and look for signs of spring!

We’ll read Whistle for Willie ( Ezra Jack Keats ) and Wake Up, It’s Spring ( Lisa Campbell Ernst).

At circle times we are reviewing numbers 1-10, colors, shapes,  letters A-U and name cards. We continue to practice taking and waiting for turns and letting our friends answer questions!  The children are doing a good job!
This week we’ll celebrate Spring’s arrival by playing Cloud, Rainbow and Puddle (visual discrimination) and Rainstorm! ( letter and number recognition ).

We’ll read The Wind Blew ( Pat Hutchins ) and do a comprehension and sequencing activity.
This week’s letter is V. We’ll sort through our V box and play What’s Missing? We’ll make colorful flower vases and volcanoes!
With baking soda, white vinegar and food coloring we’ll make a volcano erupt!
We’ll have Show and Tell on Friday 3/23. Your child’s choice!

Our Five Senses

I hope that everyone had a great weekend! This week we are going to be talking about our 5 senses. We will be smelling some items to try and guess what they are and also doing some taste tests. (I am aware of food allergies and foods that children are not allowed to eat.):) We will also be doing some fun activities with sight, touch and hearing!!!

On Monday March 11 Miss Sharon will teach a science lesson to the children and on Wednesday March 13 the nutritionist from Weiss supermarket will do a lesson on nutrition and make fruit and vegetable smoothies for the children to sample and enjoy!

We’ll talk about healthy foods and create ( with magazine pictures and play foods ) healthy meals and snacks! Together we’ll make a healthy and colorful fruit and vegetable snack to share!

We’ll celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with shamrock match ( numbers 1-10 and letters A- U).
We’ll play What’s under the Shamrock?  ( memory challenge ) and  make festive St. Patrick Day wreaths!

I hope everyone is doing good with this very cold weather! The children are doing great writing their names by memory. I am super proud of them!!!! We’ll celebrate Dr. Seuss’s birthday and read The Cat in the Hat, One Fish, Two Fish , Red Fish , Blue Fish, Green Eggs and Ham , Fox in Socks and Hop on Pop!
We’ll make cats in the hats, do red fish , blue fish dot painting and one fish, two fish number match.

This weeks’s letter is U. We’ll make colorful umbrellas, underwater scapes and explore our U box!
