To review shapes we’ll play pumpkin matchup!
We’ll make Halloween spiders ( with 8 legs ), jack-o-lanterns and learn this Halloween poem.
A Halloween Pumpkin
I am a pumpkin big and round
Once upon a time I grew in the ground
Now I have a mouth, two eyes and a nose
What are they for, do you suppose?

When I have a candle inside shining bright
I’ll be a jack-o-lantern on Halloween night!!

We’ll read Dr. Seuss’s Fox in Socks and One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish, Eric Carle’s The Very Lonely Firefly and Louise Ehlert’s Feathers for Lunch.
We will fish for letters A-F and numbers 1-5.

We are looking forward to our trip to Weis supermarket! We’ll read Pete the Cat’s Trip to the Supermarket (James Dean) and at circle time we’ll shop together for healthy foods.

We’ll do number ( 1,2 and 3 ) and letter ( A, B, C and D ) searches for review.
We’ll make Elmos and eggs and learn E sounds and words.
For science, we’ll discover what makes an egg float in water!
We’ll make scarecrows with colorful shapes and learn this song/ activity:

Fire Prevention

This week we will be learning a lot about fire prevention!! The fire truck will be coming to visit us on Monday 🙂 We will be having show and tell on Tuesday for the letter E. The children have been doing GREAT cutting with scissors!!!

To celebrate Columbus Day ( school closed Monday October 14 ) we’ll read In 1492

(Jean Marzollo), talk about explorers and discovery and make our own Ninas , Pintas and Santa Marias
This week’s letter is D. We’ll make handprint ducks and play donut match ( number and color review) and dominos.
We’ll read From Seed to Pumpkin ( Wendy Pheffer ) and Sixteen Runaway Pumpkins ( Dianne Ochiltree ) and make thumbprint pumpkins on a vine and play
“What’s Missing?”
with tiny pumpkins and gourds.
Thank you for helping your child with his/ her morning tasks ( jacket and backpack on hook, lunch box in cubby and folders in the basket in our room).

The children are getting to know each other ( we play getting to know our friends games  at circle time) and enjoying our activities!
We love this beautiful fall weather; outside play is fun and healthy!
