We will have show and tell on Tuesday for the letter “J.” The children have been doing great with putting their coats on by themselves and zipping them all by themselves also.  🙂 Please remember to replace your children’s extra clothes at school if you have not done so yet. This week’s letter is J. We’ll make jellyfish, jack-in-the-boxes ( shape review) and strawberry jam for a special snack!
We’ll sort and count jellybeans (1-8) and practice patterning with colorful jewels.

We’ll have Show and Tell on Thursday and Friday. Please ask your child to choose something beginning with any letter A through J.
We’ll learn and illustrate this December poem:

December

All the months go past
Each is like a guest
December is the last
December is the best!
Each has lovely things
Each one is a friend
But December brings
Christmas at the end!

We are practicing  for our show. The children are doing a great job and are looking forward to sharing their songs with you on December 20th!

We’ll celebrate Thanksgiving on Tuesday and Wednesday with a feast of fruit, cheese and crackers and corn muffins. On Monday we’ll measure and mix flour, cornmeal,  sugar, eggs and milk. I’ll take the batter home and bake the muffins for us to enjoy!

We’ll finish our Thanksgiving gifts and projects, play top the pumpkin pie ( math 1-6 )and make math flip books to review numbers 1-6.

We’ll read Llama Llama Gives Thanks (Anna Dewdney), The Night Before Thanksgiving ( Natasha Wing), One Big Turkey (Anne Vittur Kennedy),Pete the Cat The First Thanksgiving ( Kimberly and James Dean ), The Great Turkey Race ( Steve Metzger) and The Pilgrim’s First Thanksgiving (Ann McGovern).

This week’s letter is I. Together we’ll make an igloo ( with mini marshmallows ), make insects ( learn what they are, where they live, what they eat) and experiment with ice: what makes ice melt?
We’ll do a letter I search worksheet and practice writing the letter I.
At circle time we’ll create a colorful turkey ( color, letter and number review ) and use turkey feathers for a patterning activity.

We’ll paint with corn cobs and make mini Mayflowers!

This week is a short week; school is closed Thursday 11/7 and Friday 11/8 for New Jersey’s teachers’  convention.
This week’s letter is G. We’ll make giraffes ( learn some fun giraffe facts), sort and count (and snack on) with colorful goldfish crackers and use red and green grapes for counting and patterning and making our own grape juice!
We’ll work in our workbooks and do a letter G worksheet.
Please practice the G sounds ( hard and soft) and review G words! Thank you!
With food coloring, milk and dish detergent we’ll watch colors mix!
