Importance of Black History Month


Happy February!! Our theme of this month is Happy Hearts and Holidays! It’s Black History Month And on the 14th, Valentines Day! This month we will be learning about the holidays as we read, talk, and make fun crafts. We will also be focusing on the letters N, O, and P this month, counting and measuring numbers, and writing our first and last names. Here is a list of activities we will be enjoying this week! We will be learning Spanish introductions this month.

Language Arts: We will be reading “Have You Thanked An Inventor Today? by Patrice McLauri and “I am Rosa Parks” by Brad Meltzer
Handwriting: This week we will be reviewing N and O.
Math:  Let’s estimate and measure color cubes along a ruler, how many cubes do you think you will need to measure 12 inches?

Crafts:
Exercising is important for total body health, today we will free draw ourselves doing our favorite workout move.

Let’s make a clock craft to celebrate Benjamin Banneker’s wooden clock for Black History Month!

We will decorate our own unique Valentines this week!

The next two weeks we will be discussing total body health and activities! We will learn some fun songs and dances that are fun to sing and exercise to! We will also be learning and reading about the importance and understanding of Black History Month.
