Prek 4 ( Jennifer Quartucci )

Hope all is well with everyone and is getting ready for the holidays.  It’s such a fun time of year being with each other and giving. This week we will be:

Learning about the letter ‘H’,  recognizing it, writing it, naming H words, along with the following activities.

*Helping hands activity which involves children telling things they can do to be helpful. (Extra special time of year to learn more about helping others)

*We will also be learning about hibernation and do a bear hibernation project. ( Perfect to go with our health skill about why we need sleep) 😊

Books: The Little Red Hen, Harold and the Purple Crayon, A House for Hermit Crab

We will begin learning about our first December holiday: Hanukkah. Students will recognize menorahs, dreidels, latkes and gelt. We will play the dreidel game and make Menorahs with their hands.

Books: The Best Hanukkah Ever, The Chanukah Guest, I have a dreidel

For math we begin estimating. I will read the book ‘Ish’ by Peter Reynolds.  We will be doing a estimating project using cereal and our handprints. Students will also use mini marshmallows as manipulates for activities including ‘hot chocolate’ counting mats with numbers 1-10.
