All About Me

Prek4 ( Jennifer Ward )
We had a GREAT few days at school getting to know each other 🙂 We are looking forward to a GREAT year 🙂 This week we will be starting the letters of the alphabet. On Wednesday we will be doing show and tell for the letter “A”. Please have your child bring in something that starts with the letter “A.” Please encourage them to try and find something themselves to help them identify the letter sound 🙂 If your child does not attend school on Wednesday, they can bring it in on Tuesday to share with the class so that they have a turn also 🙂

With “all about me week” I encourage the children to bring in pictures of their families to hang up in the classroom for the week 🙂 This is a great way to learn a little bit more about each other 🙂 You will get the pictures returned to you 🙂 If you have any questions please feel free to reach out to me 🙂 Miss Jenny

We had a great first two days at school! The children are making friends, learning our routine and rules and having fun!
At circle time, we check the weather and calendar ( dress our weather friend), practice name recognition with our name cards,
review colors, shapes and numbers 1-5 and sing the days of the week, the months of the year and Miss Michele’s Good Morning song!

This week we’ll continue our letter A activities: naming A words, apple math count and apple color sorting.
We’ll make colorful apples, apple “cores” ( math-seed count), airplanes ( name recognition) and ambulances!
We’ll learn this poem
A Little Red Apple

A little red apple
Hung high up in the tree
I looked up at it
And it looked down on me

Come down please!
What do you suppose?
That little red apple
Fell right on my nose!

We’ll read Apples ( Gail Gibbons), Johnny Appleseed ( Madeline Olsen ),Alphabet Under Construction ( Denise Fleming) and Goodbye Summer, Hello Fall ( Kenard Park).
