K for Kite

We will be closing the month out by  reviewing the overall concept of Spring creatures and new life that is found during this time. Our lessons were cut short last week due to picture day on Thursday and Friday so we will be bringing everything to a close this coming week. we will be making a spring food surprise in pre-k cafe on this Monday.Our review letter is K this week and we will also be making spring kite crafts.

All summer camp forms are due May 1st for Prek-k3 & 4 by May 1st as there are no discounts past this point. This is only offered to early registered families. 

Due to a large amount of  requests from parents we will be having 8 weeks offered for prek-2 as well! The cost will be $145.00 per week and a discount will only be offered for four weeks or more. The ratio for prek-2 is lower so the cost is slightly higher. All details will be going home in the backpacks this coming Monday and the forms will be due back May 8th for early enrollment.

Save the date:
Monday May 12th is our mothers day breakfast! (This is only offered to the children who attend our school on Mondays as we do have room to accommodate all the families)

PreK 4 Week of 4/28/2014

We’ll review letters P, Q and R. We’ll make pompon letters and numbers, letter “p” pianos, brightly- colored rainbow Rs and queens with crowns!

In Kids’ Cafe we’ll make edible umbrellas (apples and raisins) and spring flowers ( bread, colored cream cheese, bananas).

We’ll color, cutout and put together our own spring booklets!

We’ll sort and count common household and school items ( plastic utensils, crayons, blocks and books).

In story time we’ve been reading the little men and little miss books by Roger Hargreaves. The stories are clever and silly and each one teaches valuable lessons ( kindness , truthfulness, helpfulness, good manners). Ask your child about Mr. Happy ( a favorite !), Mr. Slow, Mr. Grumble and Little Miss Naughty!

Recycling and Protecting Our Environment

Pre-k 3 Class

Although break was nice we all miss the kids and look forward to getting back in the swing of things!

For the last week of the month we will be reviewing all the weekly themes as well as continuing to learn about pond life and the season of spring. We will be creating paper plate ducks and frogs. We will also be making our own birds nest and creating cheerio jewelry.Last is our review letter is C.

Pre-K 4 Class

This week we ‘ll celebrate earth day (April 22 ) with lessons/activities on recycling and protecting and keeping our environment clean and healthy.

We ‘ll learn about a frog ‘s life cycle and sequence and color “frog cards” to make our own life cycle booklets.



We ‘ll plant alfalfa and radish seeds on moist sponges, seal the sponges in plastic bags and then place the bags in our sunny window and examine ( using a magnifying glass ) the sprouts as they grow!
Using dyed ( several colors) bow tie pasta we ‘ll practice sorting and graphing and letter and number formation.

We’ll review letters M, N and O and make mice, night skies and octopuses!!!

Important Reminders:

All Summer Camp forms are due back before May 1st 2014. After this date, there will be no discounts available, this is for early registration only. Also the picture forms are due back tomorrow otherwise the photographer will not be taking your child’s picture.

Reminder: Parenting Classes 
Parents who are interesting on attending the parenting classes are required to sign up via email to 
nellie97@optimum.net to have a precise headcount for refreshments and childcare.  Parenting classes are at zero cost but there is charge of 3 dollars per child for child care.

Reminder: Picture Forms
Pictures forms need to be filled out in order for your child’s picture to be taken for spring portraits. If they’re not filled out the photographer will not be taking the pictures. Please return forms after the school break.

Furry and Feathered Friends

We will creating a caterpillar made from recycled juice tops and learn the stages of the caterpillar into the butterfly. We will also be making our own feathered friend the birds in their own home the nest and discuss how the birds nurture their babies and how they live.

We will be doing other assorted creature crafts as well as reviewing the letter D and will be making a door knob hanger.



Important reminder:
Please bring items requested for our spring party no later than April 8th.If you do not attend our school but would like to join our party you need to call or email as we can not be over head count. The party will be from 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM on April 11th.


Pre k 4 Class

We’ll celebrate the Easter season talking about Jesus and learning through Bible verses that a “real” Easter bunny has the characteristics of Jesus that we all should try to have.

We’ll review letters J, K and L and make jellyfish, kangaroos and lighting bugs!
We ‘ll sort, graph and count jelly beans and soft baby chicks!
Science activities will include a lesson/activity with magnets, and we ‘ll also learn about the importance of trees in our world( they make oxygen, help keep our air clean and their roots keep our soil in place ) and create out own forests!

To challenge and sharpen visual discrimination skills we’ll use “cue” cards to mix and match Easter eggs!

Spring is Here!


The overall goal for April is to study the various aspects of the season spring to help the children identify different animals that live in ponds, characteristics of water, to examine the importance of the earth God gave us and how to care for it and life which exists on it. In addition, we will be creating spring pictures , painting warm bright suns, reviewing the letter S and making our own snakes that slither!
Here is Aprils monthly supply list:

  • We are low on wet glue,
  • glue sticks and
  • paper towels.


We appreciate any donations as this helps to keep our cost down.


To celebrate the change of season we’ll make  a pretty springtime snack: cherry blossoms with pretzels and pink cream cheese!
We’ll review letters G, H and I and practice letter formation with an edible  activity using honeycomb cereal and beehives! We’ll make beautiful letter G gardens!


We’ll explore living things (farm vegetables) and we ‘ll figure out which grow up and which grow below! We’ll do some taste testing too!

Our science activity/experiment using oil, water, dish detergent and small plastic animals shows us the importance of a clean environment to keep our animal friends healthy and happy!!!

Food Textures & Our Letter E

We will be reviewing letter E. Our week’s theme is different food textures. We will be making:

  • Fruit smoothies
  • Hard boiled egg people
  • A collage with barley lentils and green peas and a pasta pic in the shape of an E.

Also we have our in class field trip with special guest to our school on Monday at 10am. Our special guest is a nutritionist, Lori R. Lee who will be discussing nutrition topics with the kids. if you want to know more about Lori’s background, please navigate to her website.



Lastly, we need confirmation on couples for date nights otherwise we will not have it as I have to pay staff in advance. We need minimal three families to cover cost. 


Prek-4 Class

We’ll review letters A,B and C this week (beginning sounds,letter/word identification and writing practice).We’ll make “letter” alligators, bees and caterpillars.

Continuing with our healthy food/ healthy life theme and lessons we’ll make a leprechaun lunch( celery and cucumbers) and we ‘ll measure, chop and mix a fruit salad!

We’ll build “playgrounds” together to review positional words ( up, down, over, under, next to etc.).

For a literacy and math challenge we’ll use color- word puzzles to recognize/ read and sort and count color words and puzzle pieces.

Little Promises Academy Open House is Back!

We are having another open house on March 22nd 2014 from 2:00 – 4:00 PM as there are some families that expressed they had invited people who were unable to attend our last event. This is our last open house until the summer time. Whatever spots are not taken from present families will be offered at this open house event. We will be distributing flyers locally around Randolph area. Date night is here again!

March 21st from 6:30 PM – 9:00 PM including healthy snacks, crafts and a movie for $30 up to 2 children. We need three families to commit to this in order to hold the event otherwise we will choose another date in the future.

Dr. Suess Birthday

Dr. Suess Birthday and Y, Letter of the Week

March 2nd is Dr.Suess birthday so on Thursday March 6th we will be having our very own green eggs and ham breakfast at school for all classes. Please send your kids in their PJs and let them experience something extraordinary! we would appreciate any donations of eggs, orange juice and plastic cups!

The remainder of the week we will be focusing on the letter Y and creating yellow yoyos, sponge painting the letter Y and making the letter Y out of yarn!



PreK4 Class

Y is the alphabet letter this week. We’ll make Yaks, yoyos  and paint with yarn-wrapped blocks!

We’ll practice making Ys, 4s, 6s, 9s and 10s and we’ll work on writing our names with uppercase and lowercase letters.



We’ll celebrate Dr. Seuss week with stories, crafts (Dr. Seuss hats ) and a breakfast of green eggs and ham !!

We’ll make a lion’s head and mane (patterning skills) and talk about how March goes in like a “lion” and out like a “lamb.” We’ll experiment  with straws and cotton balls as we learn about the wind!

We’ll explore the five senses this month and start with a lesson on touch. Using their hands only, the children will try to guess what objects are inside closed brown bags!

Healthy foods/ healthy bodies concept will be introduced this week and expanded throughout the month with science and sensory activities!

Date Night are here!

Hello Little promises families,

Parents have requested that we have date night again as our last one was a great success! We would like to begin this at our school either once a month or once every other month depending on  the parents needs. Your feedback is necessary in order to proceed with making this happen as we want to hear what you think. Date nights will be from 6:30 to 9:00 pm including crafts, snacks and a movie. Once the weather improves we will be doing organized games and activities outdoors.
